ST. CLOUD -- Governor Mark Dayton was in St. Cloud today (Thursday) for the tenth annual Toward Zero Deaths Conference.

The initiative aims to have fewer than 350 traffic-related deaths and less than 850 serious injuries statewide by 2014.

Hundreds of Minnesota lawmakers and law enforcement officials were in attendance at the Rivers Edge Convention Center.

Gov. Dayton says he's open to hearing suggestions from the Toward Zero Deaths Initiative to figure out what needs to be done on Minnesota roadways.

Since 2003 the Toward Zero Death program has seen a 40 percent reduction of traffic fatalities. Minnesota has a 95 percent seat belt compliance rate statewide.
