SARTELL -- This week in our "Fitness Friday" series on WJON, we learn the benefits of working with a personal trainer.

Personal Trainers can be a great tool in helping you reach your fitness goals.

Ian Warzecha is a personal trainer at Fitness Evolution in Sartell. He says when he has a new client he puts a strong focus on the basics.

"Things like how long you should be training for, what your heart rate should be at, making sure you're doing the exercises properly and then later on we teach you how to make your own workout programs," says Warzecha.

He says besides focusing on the training aspect, trainers also put a strong focus in diet, weight goals and future achievements.

"We go over some of your goals, what your eating habits are, if you have any sort of plan you are going to do when you are in the gym and how often you would be able to work out," says Warzecha.

Warzecha says there are many stereotypes about personal trainers, but if used right they are a great source of motivation and accountability.

"When you hire a personal trainer we make sure you make it in during your training day. We hold you accountable and making sure you are getting in the gym," says Warzecha.

There are many different skills and training styles every trainer has. He says when choosing a personal trainer make sure they focus in the areas you want to achieve.

"My specialty would be body building and diet and other trainers focus on nutrition or rehab. All the trainers here have their own style," says Warzecha.

It can take a few months before you start to notice any changes. He says if you're still not seeing the results you want to give it time and stay patient.
