Vikings Introduce McNabb

The Vikings introduced quarterback Donavan McNabb at a press conference Friday. Minnesota traded for him with Washington earlier this week. McNabb says "I want to win now and I want to win here". He expects to be the starter but says he's willing to work with young quarterbacks Joe Webb and Christian Ponder. McNabb cannot practice with the Viking until the new NFL fiscal year begins August 4.

Vikings Have Agreement To Acquire McNabb

The Vikings have a preliminary agreement according to ESPN to trade for Washington quarterback Donavan McNabb. The Vikings will send a 6th round pick in 2012 and a 6th round pick in 2013 to acquire McNabb. McNabb and the Vikings reportedly have also worked out a restructuring of his contract.

River Bats Blank Brainerd 5-0

The St. Cloud River Bats blanked Brainerd 5-0 Saturday night. Andy Urban threw 7 shutout innings with 7 hits allowed and 4 strikeouts to get the win. Offensively C.J. Gillman was 1-3 with 2 RBIs and Bryan Haar was 1-3 with 2 runs scored. The Bats improve to 9-7 in the 2nd half of the season and are 2 games back of Alexandria for first place in the 2nd half North Division standings.

Blyleven Goes Into Hall of Fame Today

Former Twin starting pitcher Bert Blyleven will go into the Baseball Hall of Fame today in Cooperstown, New York. Blyleven is expected to speak at 1:50pm (CT) and his 85-year old mother is expected to be in the front row. The Twins have already retired his number #28 at Target Field this season. Blyleven is 3rd all-time in major league history in strikeouts and is widely considered to have one of the best curve balls of all time.

The Twins defeated the Tigers 4-1 Saturday afternoon after losing the first 7 meetings with Detroit this season. Scott Baker came off the disabled list and threw 5 shutout innings with 3 hits allowed and 5 strikeouts. The bullpen threw 4 innings with 1 earned run allowed to close the game. Joe Nathan threw a scoreless 9th inning to grab his 7th save.

The St. Cloud River Bats beat Brainerd 7-4 Friday night. St. Cloud scored 5 first inning runs and 2 more in the 2nd inning. Bryan Haar had 2 hits and 1 RBI and both Derek Campbell and Carlos Lopez had 2 runs scored. Matt Iannazzo threw 5 innings with 6 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to get the win. St. Cloud is 8-7 in the 2nd half of the season and will host Brainerd again tonight at 6:05, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 5:35.

The Twins lost 8-2 at home against the Detroit Tigers for a 2nd straight night. Minnesota fell behind 4-1 in the 3rd inning and Detroit added 3 more runs in the 5th. Brian Duensing allowed 9 hits and 7 earned runs in 4 2/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 7-8. Jim Thome had 2 hits and 1 RBI and Alexi Casilla was 2-4 for the Twins.

The Twins lost 2-1 Friday night against Kansas City at Target Field when Matt Capps allowed a 2-run homerun to rookie Eric Hosmer in the 9th inning. Minnesota took a 1-0 lead when Ben Revere scored on a wild pitch. Nick Blackburn threw 7 shutout innings before Joe Nathan threw a scoreless 8th inning. Capps allowed 2 earned runs in the 9th inning to take the loss and be saddled with his 7th blown save this season. Ben Revere had 2 hits, a stolen base and run scored and Delmon Young had 2 hits for the Twins.

Twins Rally To Beat Brewers 9-7

The Twins rallied to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 9-7 Sunday to win 2 of 3 games against the Brewers on the weekend. Minnesota fell behind 6-1 but scored 3 runs in the 4th inning and added 4 more in the 7th ining to surge in front. Jim Thome hit a solo homerun his 595th in his career and Rene Tosoni hit a 3-run homerun for Minnesota. Danny Valencia and Michael Cuddyer each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs for the Twins.
