Capps Blows Save In Twins 2-1 Loss
The Twins lost 2-1 Friday night against Kansas City at Target Field when Matt Capps allowed a 2-run homerun to rookie Eric Hosmer in the 9th inning. Minnesota took a 1-0 lead when Ben Revere scored on a wild pitch. Nick Blackburn threw 7 shutout innings before Joe Nathan threw a scoreless 8th inning. Capps allowed 2 earned runs in the 9th inning to take the loss and be saddled with his 7th blown save this season. Ben Revere had 2 hits, a stolen base and run scored and Delmon Young had 2 hits for the Twins.
Minnesota is now 42-47 and is 7 games back of Cleveland for first place in the American League Central. The Twins host Kansas City again tonight at 6:10, pregame on WJON at 5:35. Carl Pavano (6-6) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander Jeff Francis (3-10) toes the rubber for the Royals.
