ZIMMERMAN - A day of playing out in the snow turned into a scary incident for a 12-year-old Sherburne County boy.

The Sheriff's Department says the boy was digging a snow tunnel in Baldwin Township near Zimmerman yesterday (Tuesday) when the snow collapsed on him, burying him from the waist up.

The boy's father dug him out of the snowbank.

When deputies arrived he was breathing but unresponsive.

His extremities were white and cold to the touch.

He was taken by helicopter to North Memorial Hospital, where he was released a few hours later.
