ALBANY - This week in our "Your Town Tuesday" series we're focusing on what's happening in Albany.

Today (Tuesday) is the first official day on the job for new Albany schools superintendent Greg Johnson. He was hired back in March, and since then he's been spending time getting to know the community. He says, "Every single first impression of the Albany area schools has been absolutely positive. It's from meeting people, to being mentored by the former superintendent, meeting with administrators, working with board members, meeting new neighbors down the street, being out on the golf course, going to the bakery, every single aspect of it has been positive".

Johnson says, when the Albany position became available, it looked like a good fit for him and his family, "Our family was okay with change, but not significant change. Not moving to southern Minnesota or a different state. It was something that was a match for us, and we love central Minnesota. My wife and I are both from central Minnesota, we love being here. My wife is also in education and with her job it's good for us to stay in the general area"

Johnson, his wife, and their youngest daughter - who will be a sophomore - have bought a house and have moved to Albany.

Johnson has spent the past eight years as an elementary principal in the Sartell-St. Stephen school district. Before that we was a principal at Westwood and Lincoln elementaries in St. Cloud. This is his first job as a superintendent.

Next week in our "Your Town Tuesday" series we are going to be heading to the town of St. Stephen.
