There’s something about eating ice cream that just brings a sense of happiness. There’s another old saying that says that the best cure when suffering from a broken heart is a spoon and a container of your favorite ice cream.

When it comes to ice cream, the flavors are wide and expansive, and it seems there are more new ones each year. So, with all these choices, what is still the favorite in North America?

Some people will likely be surprised that “Vanilla” is still the pull-away favorite according to Instacart. The food delivery company says that last year between June and August, 29% of all their orders contained vanilla ice cream.

Three of the top five flavors are considered more basic or traditional. No surprise with as many people that love chocolate, that flavor comes in second on the list of popular ice cream flavors ordered by Instacart.

The rest of the top five are “Cookies and Cream”, “Strawberry” and “Mint Chip”. The remaining Top 10 flavors are “Cookie Dough”, “Coffee”, “Butter Pecan”, “Neapolitan” and “Moose Tracks”.

For Minnesotans who enjoy Ice Cream, they are getting theirs some other way than by ordering it on Instacart. The company says that not enough ice cream is delivered by their drivers in our state to have a solid statistic.

Instacart broke down North America by unique flavor as well. “Rocky Road” was the dominant unique flavor in the Western states of America while “Mango” was the favorite in the Western Regions of Canada.

The Northern Mid-Western States love their “Moose Tracks” according to the study, expect Minnesota. Minnesota is joined by 7 other states which include South Dakota and Nebraska, and others mostly along the Mid-Atlantic region of the East Coast, whose favorite unique Ice Cream is Orange Sherbet.

No matter your favorite flavor, one thing is for sure, our love of Ice Cream is as strong as ever and shows no signs of slowing down.
