Trees Causing Logjam On Mississippi Near St. Paul
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Storm-swept trees and branches, some as big as telephone poles, are creating a logjam on the Mississippi River near downtown St. Paul.
City spokesman Joe Campbell says they haven't been able to clear the debris yet because some contractors have been concerned for the high water levels. But there are more workers surveying the area on Friday and removal may start as soon as then.
St. Paul's emergency management director Rick Larkin says the logjam should be broken to protect the safety of those using Harriet Island Regional Park.
Larkin estimated the cost might range from $15,000 to $25,000.
