MINNEAPOLIS - The top ranked Gopher hockey team battled to tie Colgate 2-2 before falling in the shootout in the Mariucci Classic on Friday night.

Travis Boyd and Michael Brodzinski put in goals for the Gophers in regulation. After overtime,  Mike Borkowski and Ryan Johnston scored for Colgate to pick up the shootout victory.

Goalie Adam Wilcox made 27 saves for Minnesota in the action.

The Gophers will return to action on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. to take on Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
