THERE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT A BUS DRIVER

Roger….I’ll remember that name forever. Roger was the name of my bus driver when I was in high school. I don’t remember when he started as our bus driver, but he drove bus for my brother and me; and was still driving bus for my brother’s children throughout their school years. Everybody loved him.

This is a similar story for many people. The bus drivers become an extended part of our families to a certain degree; and if they stay, they become a trusted source for knowing where your kids are, and if they got on the bus or not each and every school day.

His name is Jim Oppegard. Jim is from Brooklyn Park and has been named the oldest bus driver in the world by Guinness World Records.

Jim is 94 years old, and the previous record holder was 90. Jim said, “It was great. I was expecting it. The record was 90 and I was quite a bit older than that.”
