The St. Cloud Rox signed 8 more players to play for the team this summer. Among the 8 is outfielder Andy Henkemeyer from Sauk Rapids. Henkemeyer is playing his college baseball for the Gophers. He was the Most Valuable River Bat last season in St. Cloud. He is joined by outfielder Boo Vasquez from the University of Pittsburg, catcher Adam Martin from Western Carolina, outfielder Jamie Simpson from Eastern Michigan and pitchers Paul Schaak of Eastern Michigan, Alex Roberts of Newberry College, Sergio Luna of Cal-State L.A. and Adam Maxon of Jacksonville University.

Raindrops and tear drops fell on Sunday afternoon as about a dozen National Guard soldiers were welcomed home at the St. Cloud National Guard Armory. The National Guard says a total of 215 soldiers from the 1st Squadron, 94th Cavalry, 1st Brigade Combat Team returned to St. Paul.

The Texas Rangers downed the Twins 4-1 Friday night in the first game of a 3-game series at Target Field. Matt Harrison allowed just 1 earned run in 8 innings to get the win and improve to 2-0. Anthony Swarzak allowed 9 hits and 4 earned runs scored the Twins to take the loss and drop to 0-2. Danny Valencia's sacrifice fly in the 2nd inning gave the Twins a 1-0 lead but Texas scored 3 runs in the 4th inning.

The Twins came from down 6-0 to beat the Los Angeles Angels 10-9 at Target Field Thrusday afternoon. Justin Morneau hit a 2-run homerun in Minnesota's 4-run 8th inning, Joe Mauer hit a 3-run homerun, Josh Willingham had 3 hits including a solo homerun and Denard Span was 4-5 with a run and 1 RBI for the Twins. Jeff Gray recorded just 1 out for the win and Matt Capps allowed 3 hits and 2 earned runs in the 9th inning for the save.
Timberwolves Lose to Clippers Without Love
The Timberwolves lost 95-82 at home against the L.A. Clippers Thursday night. The loss is the 8th in a row for Minnesota and drops their record to 25-35. Kevin Love did not play because of a mild concussion and neck strain. Love returned to Minnesota after spending the night at a Denver area hospital Wednesday night after being hit in the head by the elbow of Javele McGee of the Denver Nuggets.

The Twins won 6-5 over the L.A. Angels to earn their first win of the season Wednesday night. Chris Parmelee had a 2-run triple in the 7th inning to tie the game at 5 before Jamey Carroll's 2-out RBI single off before Twin, Latroy Hawkins in the 7th inning. Carroll has his first 2 hits as a Twin. Josh Willingham added a 2-run homerun and Joe Mauer added a RBI single.

Twins righthanded starting pitcher Scott Baker will have surgery to repair the flexor pronator tendon in his right elbow and will not play this season. The tendon has bothered Baker for the last couple of seasons and he says he can no longer pitch with the pain. The surgery will require 6 months of recap but the surgery is not Tommy John surgery.
