New York Rangers enforcer -- and former Minnesota Wild player - Derek Boogaard has died. He was 28. The team announced Boogaard's death on Friday night, but gave no details.

The Minnesota Wild have fired coach Todd Richards. General manager Chuck Fletcher made the announcement Monday, a day after the Wild's season ended with a win over Dallas.

Vancouver blanked the Minnesota Wild 5-0 Thursday night. Niklas Backstrom had 18 saves but allowed 5 goals and Jose Theodore had 5 saves in relief of Backstrom. Roberto Luongo had 29 saves to get the shutout in net for the Canucks. Minnesota outshot Vancouver 29-28. The Wild have 2 games left and will play at Edmonton tonight at 8pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 7:35.

The Minnesota Wild lost 4-2 to the Detroit Red Wings Sunday afternoon. Brad Staubitz and Carson McMillan each scored a goal for the Wild and Jose Theodore had 30 saves for Minnesota. Detroit scored 2 first period goals and never trailed.

The Minnesota Wild won 4-2 at home against Edmonton Thursday night. The Wild got goals from Antti Miettinen, Marek Zidlicky, Brad Staubitz, and Martin Havlat and Niklas Backstrom had 33 saves. The win for Backstrom snaps a 6-game winless streak for him.

The Minnesota Wild ended their 8-game losing streak with a 3-2 overtime win over St. Louis in a shootout Tuesday night. Eric Nystrom and Pierre-Marc Bouchard each scored a goal in regulation and Mikko Koivu and Bouchard each scored a goal in the shootout. Jose Theodore had 27 saves in net for the Wild. Minnesota was outshot 29-28.

The Minnesota Wild lost 3-0 to the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday night. James Reimer had 29 saves to get the shutout in net for the Wild. Niklas Backstrom had 14 saves for Minnesota. The Wild are winless in their last 7 games and are 35-31-8 and with 78 points are 7 points back of 8th and final playoff spot in the West.

The Minnesota Wild lost 8-1 to Montreal Sunday afternoon. P.K. Subban scored a hat trick for Montreal. Mikko Koivu scored the lone Wild goal on a penalty shot. Jose Theodore allowed 5 goals with 14 saves and Niklas Backstrom allowed 3 goals with 10 saves.
