Viking tight end John Carlson has a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his knee will according to head coach Leslie Frazier will miss 1-2 weeks. Carlson is expected to see significant action at tight end this season along with 2nd year tight end Kyle Rudolph. Carlson is a Litchfield, Minnesota native who played his college football at Notre Dame and played professionally in Seattle before signing a free agent contract with the Vikings in the off-season.

Viking running back Adrian Peterson suffered an allergic reaction at lunch in Mankato Monday that sent him to a local hospital. Coach Leslie Frazier said Peterson ate some seafood that caused his face to swell and shortness of breath. An ambulance was called and Peterson was diagnosed with a allergic reaction at the hospital.

Peterson was at a bar early Saturday morning and refused to leave when all patrons were asked to do so. He got into an argument with a police officer and was tackled to the ground after he alledgedly pushed an officer.

Viking cornerback Asher Allen has retired from the NFL at the age of 24. Head Coach Leslie Frazier announced Wednesday of the decision made by Allen and said he was surprised to hear that Allen was retiring. He didn't get into the specifics as to why he is retiring. Allen started 9 games and appeared in 12 games for the Vikings in 2011. He missed some time due to a concussion and a shoulder injury. Frazier says Allen's decision is not related to injuries.

The Vikings announced the signing of 7 of their 10 draft picks from the April NFL draft. The players that have signed are 4th round picks receivers Jarius Wright and Greg Childs from Arkansas and tight end Rhett Ellison of USC. The Vikings also signed 5th round pick safety Robert Blanton of Notre Dame, 6th round pick kicker Blair Walsh of Georgia, and 7th round picks linebacker Audie Cole of N.C. State and defensive lineman Trevor Guyton of California.

The Vikings will hold training camp in Mankato at Minnesota State longer this season than in recent years. The Vikings are schedule to start camp in Mankato July 26 and will break camp August 16. This will be the 47th straight season the Vikings will train at MSU.
