Vikings Break Camp In Mankato; Host Bills Friday
The Vikings broke camp in Mankato Wednesday and will host Buffalo Friday night in their 2nd preseason game at 7pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 5:00. The Vikings were at camp in Mankato since July 26 and will now resume training camp activities at their Winter Park facility in Eden Prairie.

Peterson took only a few hand-offs but the defense was instructed not to hit him. Peterson was disappointed he wasn't allowed to be hit but is happy to be back practicing with the guys.

The Vikings allowed 260 yards rushing against the 49ers in their preseason game at San Francisco Friday night. Viking linebacker Chad Greenway says the mistakes made are correctable and one preseason game isn't an indication of how the season will go. The Vikings were the best team against the run in the NFL from 2006-2008. Pat Williams anchored the defensive line during those seasons and has since retired.

The Vikings activated running back Adrian Peterson from the physically unable to perform list Sunday. Peterson is coming back from a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee and has been ahead of schedule in his rehab. Peterson was able to practice with the Vikings Sunday but cannot practice in pads until Tuesday because of the new collective bargaining agreement prohibits practicing in full pads for 2 days for players that have been activated from the PUP list.

49ers Beats Vikings 17-6 In Preseason Opener
The Vikings lost 17-6 in their preseason opener Friday night. Christian Ponder engineered both scoring drives that led to two field goals in the first quarter from rookie Blair Walsh. Ponder was 4-10 passing for 80 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. Joe Webb was less impressive passing throwing for just 20 yards on 4-11 passing. McLeod Bethel-Thompson was the 3rd quarterback and he was 3-7 passing for 49 yards in the 4th quarter.

Viking running back Adrian Peterson had his pretrial hearing in Houston, Texas moved to September 27. Prosecutors have agreed to push back the court date for Peterson to face a misdemeanor resisting arrest charge. The pretrial hearing as originally scheduled for July 13 and then moved to Monday. Attorney Rusty Hardin says hearings will now be held September 27 and November 15.

Viking receiver Greg Childs had surgery done on his torn patella tendons on both knees Monday. He torn the patella tendon in both knees at a scrimmage for the Vikings in Mankato Saturday night. Childs vows to recover from this injury but only one other player had the torn the patella tendon on both knees and he wasn't able to sustain a comeback in the NFL.

The Vikings have lost receiver Greg Childs for the season after he suffered a torn patella tendon in both knees Saturday night in a scrimmage at Minnesota State-Mankato. Childs season is over and career is in jeopardy. The 6'3 receiver ran a 4.39 40 at the combine but had a injury history in college at Arkansas. He was taken in the 4th round by the Vikings in the April draft.
