Twins Fire 3 Coaches and Head Athletic Trainer
The Twins did not renew the c0ntracts of 3 coaches and their head athletic trainer. Longtime bullpen coach Rick Stelmaszek, 3rd base coach Steve Liddle and first base coach Jerry White and head coach athletic trainer Rick McWane all had their contacts not renewed for 2013. The Twins also reassigned bench coach Scott Ulger and hitting coach Joe Vavra. Ulger will work the outfielders and Vavra will work with the infielders.
Twins End Season With 2-1 Loss at Toronto
The Twins lost 2-1 at Toronto Wednesday night to close the season with a 66-96 record. Brandon Morrow struckout 11 in 8 innings with 3 hits and 1 earned run allowed to get the win for the Blue Jays. Scott Diamond allowed 5 hits and 2 earned runs in 5 innings to take the loss and drop to 12-9. Ben Revere had 3 of the 4 Twins' hits and Matt Carson drove in the lone Twins' run.

The Twins lost their 2nd to last game of the season 4-3 in Toronto to the Blue Jays Tuesday night. Toronto went out to a 4-0 lead in the 5th inning. Denard Span hit a 2-run homerun in the 6th inning and Alexi Casilla added a RBI single for the Twins in the 7th inning. Ben Revere had 3 hits for Minnesota. Anthony Swarzak started the game for the Twins and allowed 4 earned runs in 5 innings to take the loss and drop to 3-6.
Blue Jays Edge Twins 6-5 in 10 Innings
The Twins lost 6-5 in 10 innings to the Toronto Blue Jays Monday night. Yan Gomes hit a solo homerun off Glen Perkins in the 9th inning to force extra innings before Anthony Gose hit the game-winning RBI single off Brian Duensing in the 10th inning. Trevor Plouffe was 2-3 with a 2-run homerun and 3 RBIs and Jamey Carroll went 3-5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI for the Twins.
Fielder, Tigers Down Twins 2-1
The Twins lost 2-1 in their final home game of the season Sunday afternoon to the Detroit Tigers. Prince Fielder hit a 2-run homerun in the 8th inning off Jared Burton to lift the Tigers to the win. Pedro Florimon had a RBI single in the 7th inning to break the scoreless tie at the time. Joe Mauer was 3-4 and is now just 2 points back of Miguel Cabrera for the American League batting title. Mauer is hitting .323 while Cabrera is hitting .325.
Doumit, Twins Beat Tigers 4-2
Ryan Doumit drove in all 4 runs in the Twins' 4-2 win over Detroit at Target Field Friday night. Doumit hit a 2-run homerun in the 7th inning and added a 2-run double in the 8th. The Twins managed only 4 hits for the game. Jared Burton earned the win in relief and Glen Perkins threw a scoreless 9th inning for his 16th save. Scott Diamond started the game for the Twins and threw 7 1/3 innings with 1 earned run allowed.
Yankees, C.C. Sabathia Down Twins 8-2
The Twins lost 8-2 to the New York Yankees Wednesday in the final game of the 3-game series. Sam Deduno left the game after 1 2/3 innings with eye irritation. Deduno had no hits and no runs allowed with 2 strikeouts. Alexi Casilla 2 hits and both Matt Carson and Pedro Florimon had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Chris Dickerson hit a 2-run homerun and C.C. Sabathia threw 8 innings with 2 earned runs allowed to get the win. Sabathia had 10 strikeouts.

The Twins defeated the New York Yankees 5-4 Tuesday night. Minnesota scored 4 runs in the 7th inning highlighted by Denard Span's 2-run double. Joe Mauer was 3-4 with a run scored and 1 RBI. Mauer is batting .326 and is just 3 points behind Miguel Cabrera for the American League lead. Ryan Doumit was 2-4 with a run scored for Minnesota.

The Yankees defeated the Twins 6-3 Monday night behind the pitching of veteran Andy Pettitte. Pettitte threw 7 shutout innings with 7 hits allowed to get the win and improve to 5-3. Liam Hendriks allowed 8 hits, 4 homeruns, and 6 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 1-8. Pedro Florimon went 2-4 with a solo homerun for the Twins. Chris Parmelee hit a 2-run triple for the Twins.

Joe Mauer was 3-4 with a run scored and 4 RBIs and Ben Revere was 3-4 with 3 runs scored and 1 RBI for the Twins.
