Many of the interstate roads will see in the United States go east to west but St. Cloud was a part of a highway system that went north to south in the early 1900s. The Jefferson Highway originated in Winnipeg and made its way south to Bourbon Street in New Orleans starting in 1916.

The final piece of the Benton Drive improvements in Sauk Rapids gets underway Monday.

Crews are working to repair a gas line along Benton Drive and 1st Street North Saturday morning.

Plans are in the works to reconstruct the final stretch of Benton Drive on the east end of Sauk Rapids, but work won't start until the year 2020.

The ramp closures at Highway 15 and Benton Drive have been pushed back a week.

Benton County has a handful of construction projects scheduled for 2015. The projects include re-surfacing County Roads 51 and 66 east of Foley, County Road 58 east of Sauk Rapids and North Benton Drive from the Bridge of Hope to Highway 10.

As we head into fall, orange construction cones will start disappearing as projects are completed.

Reconstruction work on Benton Drive starts up Monday, forcing you to detour around a two-block section near the Coborn's Superstore. It will close a portion of Benton Drive until the end of June.

Be prepared for some construction work on Benton Drive in Sauk Rapids. Officials plan to redo a three-block section of the road from 2nd Street South to 5th Street South.

The Sauk Rapids City Council has voted to make a change to a busy intersection. For several years the council has discussed the need to make improvements to the five-leg Benton Drive/5th Street South/2nd Avenue South intersection.
