Patricia Thompson, 87, of Motley, MN died Thursday, December 4, 2014 at her home. Memorial service for Patricia will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Motley United Methodist Church, with Pastor Greg Ciesluck officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM to the time of services Thursday morning, also at the church.

Patricia was born in Nokay Lake, MN on October 11, 1927 to LeRoy and Evelyn (Pointen) Cook. Her family had had a store called Cook’s Corner. They moved to Lake Hubert – Nisswa area. Patricia attended Junior College in Brainerd. During WWII, she went to Washington State to work. She then returned to Minnesota and was united in marriage to James Canby Thompson on August 26, 1947 at the Nisswa Community Church. They farmed near Motley, and in the 1970’s she worked at the Motley Hardware Store stocking shelves. Patricia enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, collecting items at flea markets and rummage sales, reading and bird watching.

Patricia is survived by her children, Susan Thompson of Fridley, MN, Kathleen Thompson of Minneapolis, MN, Jackie Cade of Atoka, OK, Sherry Thompson of West St. Paul, MN, Jamie Thompson of Underwood, MN, Patrice Thompson of Blaine, MN; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Dick Cook of Nisswa, MN; sister, Marlys O’Bannon of Tacoma, WA. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim in 2006; siblings, Eddie, Elaine, Virginia and Blanche. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
