MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is the NBA's Western Conference player of the week for the opening week of the season.

Love leads the NBA with 29.7 points per game and is second with 14.7 rebounds per game.

He powered the Wolves to three victories last week for their first 3-0 start since 2001.

His off-balance, one-handed bank shot at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night helped the Wolves hold off Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks.

Wolves look to go 4-0 tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
