ST. CLOUD - Retired educators from the St. Cloud area school district have established a retired educators legacy fund with the local education and activities foundation (LEAF).

The fund will award grants to local district academics, activities, arts and athletic programs. As of January 15th, 105 retired educators have donated $26,676 over the past four years to create this legacy fund.

Funds can be set up with LEAF by any person or group who donates at least $25,000 in up to a five year period. A grant of five percent of the principal of a legacy fund is made to district programs in the name of the donor every year.

As the fund grows over the years, the total amount given will contiune to grow.

Additions to the retired educators legacy fund can be made by retired teachers or anyone wanting to make a donation in memory of a favorite teacher.
