Hennepin County Installs New Rescue Dock on Lake Minnetonka
MINNEAPOLIS-- Hennepin County officials have installed a new emergency dock on Lake Minnetonka they hope will reduce response times
A large number of emergencies last year drove efforts to improve response times and create more access for responders. Last year on the Fourth of July alone sheriff's deputies responded to 75 calls in less than 24 hours.
Emergency responders have had to depend on the sheriff's water patrol headquarters in Spring Park or on private docks and marinas. The new $125,000 dock is expected to shave anywhere from four to 10 minutes off response times.
The dock was installed a week ago.
