United States Great Northern Road Trip Includes a Stop in Minnesota
There are so many great reasons to take a road trip. You get to see so much more than you do flying somewhere. Plus, a lot less hassle. And you have a vehicle in case you want to bring things home with you that you find along the way without having to worry about shipping, or trying to pack or whatever it is. There are also way more opportunities to see things along the way and to enjoy what this country has to offer.
Flying is definitely faster, if you are just trying to "get there", but if you have the time, and you don't mind driving, that is really the way to go. There is something to be said about driving and just enjoying the countryside and everything there is to see and do.
THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT ROUTES TO TAKE ACROSS THE U.S.
There are several epic road trips you can take within the United States. One of which happens to be the Great Northern Road Trip from Main to Washington. And this trip, put out by magazine The Dyrt website, goes through all of the "must see" spots to stop at along the way. Included on that list is a stop right here in Minnesota.
WHERE DOES THIS ROAD TRIP TAKE YOU
If you actually started from Maine, you would make a few stops along the way, you would pass through these spots - Maine → New Hampshire → Vermont → Ontario & Quebec, Canada (detour) → Michigan → Wisconsin → Minnesota → North Dakota → Montana → Idaho → Washington*.
EXACTLY WHICH PART OF MINNESOTA IS ON THIS ROAD TRIP
When you get to Minnesota, the recommended stop is in Duluth. Makes sense, right? This is a stop that goes by way of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan down to Minnesota/Wisconsin and the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. That is also the spot in the Winter that has the ice caves. The ice caves are very hit and miss. This year, they were open for a whole day! Other years they haven't been able to open at all. But in the Spring/Summer/Fall it's a great spot to explore.
If you would like to see the full road trip eperience and what the fun things are to see along the way, you can check that out right now on the Great Northern Road Trip website.
