ST. CLOUD -- It's going to cost you more to fill up the boat for this year's fishing opener.

Prices in the St. Cloud area spiked Thursday to $3.89 a gallon.

AAA spokesman Gene Ladoucer says part of the reason for the jump certainly is the unofficial start to the travel season, also called Minnesota's Fishing Opener.  He says prices generally level off at around Memorial Day and fall back after.

AAA says an eight-dollar jump in crude oil prices this week and some refinery issues are also factoring into the higher gas prices in the midwest.
