SAUK RAPIDS -- The Minnesota DNR is asking turkey hunters to help them with their study of the bird flu.

Hunters in several central Minnesota counties, including Stearns, are encouraged to call the DNR so a sample can be taken from their bird.

The bird flu hasn't been detected in wild turkeys, but has been found in several domestic turkey flocks.

Sampling only takes minutes and you will keep your bird. If you do allow the DNR to take a sample, leave your turkey in your vehicle and DNR staff will come out to take the test.

To schedule an appointment, you can call the DNR office closest to you. In Sauk Rapids, the number is (320) 223-7840.
