UPDATE: Dayton: Wilfs Should Pay Vikings’ Share of Stadium
ST. PAUL (AP) - Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton says Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf should have to cover much of the team's share of stadium construction from their own pockets, not through profit from expensive personal seat licenses.
Dayton sent a letter Monday to the chairwoman of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority. The authority is negotiating final stadium contracts with the team.
The governor cites media reports that suggested the team's owners could get much of their $477 million share of the $1 billion stadium from naming rights, seat licenses and an NFL contribution.
Vikings spokesman Lester Bagley said the price of seat licenses is among a handful of items still at issue in the team's negotiations. Bagley noted that the licenses were included in the stadium legislation.
