We picked-up another inch of snow yesterday (Tuesday) in St. Cloud. That gives us 2.9 inches for the week now. We've had 5.8 inches for the month so far. And 27.6 inches for the season.
Light snow will continue today (Tuesday), and gradually taper off to flurries before ending tonight. The National Weather Service says additional accumulations will generally range from a dusting to two inches.
We officially picked-up 1.9 inches of snow in St. Cloud yesterday (Monday). That gives us 4.8 inches for the month of January so far -- that's about an inch-and-a-half above normal.
National Weather Service offices in three states plan to experiment with a new warning to give people a heads-up when it gets dangerously cold. Meteorologist John Paul Martin says the "extreme cold warnings" will supplement the wind chill advisories and warnings the agency already issues in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota.
Snowfall accumulations will range from 5 to 7 inches in southeast and south central Minnesota, to 1 to 3 inches in our part of the state by Tuesday morning.
