Anthony Bennett is on the move again. A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that the Minnesota Timberwolves have reached agreement on terms on a $3.65 million buyout with the former No. 1 overall pick.
Flip Saunders announced a few weeks ago that he had a Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which is a form of cancer. Flip originally stated that the cancer was "treatable and curable" and that he would continue to serve as both head coach and as the president of basketball operations. We are unsure how long Mitchell will be the interim head coach, but expect him to be interim at least for a couple of months.
The Timberwolves have come to an agreement to sign 6'11 forward Kevin Garnett to a 2-year contract. The 39-year old is expected to play approximately 20 minutes per game next season. Garnett is expected to sign the deal later this week.
The Timberwolves have the first overall pick in the NBA draft tonight for the first time in franchise history. The Wolves are expected to pick 6'11 250 pound center Karl Anthony Towns from Kentucky.
The Wolves could not slow down "The Brow," Anthony Davis, who scored 24 points while adding 11 rebounds, five assists and six blocked shots. The Pelicans are now 44-37 and tied for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
