ST. CLOUD -- It's a big weekend for local racers as the USA BMX National Circuit comes through St. Cloud.

Thousands of BMX racers from around the country are competing at Pine View Park BMX at the Land O'Lakes Nationals.

"It's really cool," says racer Brady LaVoi, 22, of St. Cloud. "The atmosphere and having your friends and family watch you is pretty cool."

LaVoi is one of the top BMXers in the state and says he hopes to continue building on the success he's had this summer.

"I love how individualized [the sport] is," LaVoi says. "You can put into it as much as you want or as little as you want and that'll [determine] how well you do -- that's thing thing I love about it."

It's a big weekend for another hometown racer, Kiegen Pearlberg, who is a reigning national BMX champion.

"It's pretty amazing because we don't get big races [in St. Cloud] a lot," Pearlberg says.

The 12-year-old from St. Cloud says he hopes to pick up some more wins this weekend and build towards his ultimate goal.

"I'm hoping to make it to the Olympics someday."
