Bachmann Talks With WJON News On Budget Battles, Presidential Aspirations [AUDIO]
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Now that the federal government has avoided a shutdown, the next big showdown between House Republicans and President Obama will be over raising the debt ceiling. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann says it's something she absolutely opposes.
A failure to raise the debit limit later this month could mean the government would not be able to make debt payments.
Bachmann says she supports the principles of a GOP budget plan that cuts federal spending by $5.8 trillion over 10 years. However she's stopping short of endorsing the plan.
Ryan's plan for the budget year that begins October 1st would convert Medicare into a subsidy or voucher system for people under 55. It would also make Medicaid a state-run program financed by federal block grants.
Bachmann continues to dance along the edge of a potential Presidential run. Earlier this week in Iowa she told reporters she'd be willing to be a one-term President.
Bachmann continues to gain a lot of media attention, and has continued to make a lot of appearances in early campaign states. She says she plans to make a decision in early June.
