Albany Man Sentenced in 2014 Infant Death Case
ST. CLOUD -- A Stearns County judge has sentenced an Albany man to 20 years in prison for the murder of his infant son.
Thirty-four-year-old Robert Kaiser was found guilty in October, 2016 on two counts of second-degree murder. However, the jury found Kaiser not guilty on the one count of first-degree murder.
The boy was brought to the Albany Hospital in August 2014 after he was having difficulty breathing and was suffering seizures. He was airlifted to Children's Hospital where he died days later.
An autopsy revealed the boy died of a traumatic brain injury, likely caused by shaking.
The jury found aggravating factors in the crime because of the vulnerability of the child and Kaiser's position of authority.
