A Minnesota police department used humor in a recent social media post about crimes of opportunity. The Mendota Heights Police Department used the phrase 'thieving weasels' to describe the criminals taking advantage of the recent unseasonably warm temps.

The Mendota Heights Police Department posted yesterday about criminals taking advantage of the warmer weather to commit crimes of opportunity. The post also included a photo of a possible suspect in a recent theft.

What stood out was how the Mendota Police Department described the thieves in their post.

The unseasonably warm weather has hatched a bumper crop of thieving weasels.
In the past 4 days, we have had several reports of people stealing items from unlocked cars. It is a widespread issue from the Copperfield neighborhood to the Aves (that’s 1st Ave & 2nd Ave area for you out of towners).
Please, please, PLEASE lock your cars, close your garage, and lock the door that leads from the garage into your house.
Give us a call if you recognize this little dumpling.

The message uses some tongue-in-cheek humor but does make some good points in terms of common sense safety, no matter what the weather outside is like.

Remember if you are leaving your vehicle outside to lock your doors, and take out the garage door opener and any valuables. Another common sense thing you can do this time of year is to make sure you've closed and locked/secured your side or rear access to your garage.

Most of the summer it seems we'd see people leaving side or rear access doors open during the day for their pets to go in and out, or for the kids running in and out all day.

Hopefully, the Mendota Police catch their 'weasels', and you remember to 'weasel' proof your garage and vehicle.

History of Minnesota Timberwolves' 1st Round Draft Picks - Year by Year

No team has probably suffered more in its history in Minnesota than the Timberwolves from playoff failures to poor decisions, see Joe Smith's contract, and bad trades it seems like the team is almost always in the wait-until-next-year mode.
