WINONA, Minn. (AP) - A man accused of killing the mother of his two children is being held in Winona County Jail on $1 million bail.

Twenty-three-year-old Kyle Allers is charged with second-degree intentional homicide in the death of Tasha Lynn Hanson. A medical examiner's determined Hanson died of blunt force trauma to the head and strangulation.

Winona County sheriff's officials have declined to comment on the time and place of Hanson's death. Deputies began searching for the woman Friday night and found her body early Saturday.

Prosecutor Karin Sonneman reportedly says Allers and Hanson lived together in Lewiston. Their two children, ages 1 and 3, have been placed with family members.
