BROWERVILLE — The Todd County Sheriff’s Office is warning of an internet scam involving gift cards.

The Sheriff’s department says some residents in the Browerville area have been receiving pop-up messages on their computers indicating the federal government needs your help.

The message asks you to go to Wal-mart, Walgreens or Kmart and buy money orders, gift certificates or gift cards worth $300 and then you will be contacted later to download the gift card information onto your computer.

Sheriff’s officials say this is a scam and don’t comply with the instructions.
