Governor Dayton’s ‘State of the State’ Live on WJON Tonight
ST. PAUL - Governor Mark Dayton will deliver his annual State of the State address tonight (Wednesday).
Aides say the Democratic governor will largely focus on his recent state budget proposal, which includes ambitious changes to Minnesota's tax system that are facing widespread criticism from state business owners and executives.
Dayton wants to use additional revenue from an upper-income tax hike and an expansion of state sales taxes to help erase a $1.1 billion budget deficit while also pumping new money into public schools, colleges, to expand medical assistance and to give out $500 property tax rebate checks.
Dayton's speech in front of both the full bodies of the State House and Senate will be at 7:00 p.m.
We will be airing the address live on AM 1240 WJON -- and on WJON.com -- this evening.
