The Twins lost their home opener 5-1 to the Los Angeles Angels Monday afternoon at Target Field. Nick Blackburn allowed 5 hits and 5 earned runs in 6 innings to take the loss. C.J. Wilson allowed 3 hits and 1 earned run in 7 inning to get the win for the Angels. Josh Willingham hit a solo homerun off Wilson accounting for the lone Twins' run.

A sold-out crowd was at Target Field Monday for the Minnesota Twins Home Opener festivities. Take a look at some of the sights from the celebration.

Sartell-St. Stephen has hired Scott Hentges as their new head football coach. The decision was announced today on the Sartell-St. Stephen website. Hentges replaces John Ross who remains at Sartell as the Athletic Director. Hentges has held many different positions within the Sartell-St. Stephen football program. He has coached quarterbacks, running backs, linebackers, defensive backs and most recently defensive coordinator.

The Twins lost 3-1 at Baltimore Sunday as the Orioles completed the sweep of Minnesota. Jason Hammel took a no-hitter into the 8th inning before Justin Morneau's double broke-up the no-hitter to lead off the 8th inning. Josh Willingham doubled Morneau in to scored the lone Twins' run. Anthony Swarzak threw 5 innings with 1 earned run allowed to take the loss. Swarzak started in place of Liam Hendriks. Hendriks couldn't pitch because of food poisioning.

Bubba Watson beat Louis Oosthuizen on the 2nd playoff hole at the 2012 Masters Sunday evening. Watson hit a great 2nd shot to save par on the 2nd playoff hole while Oosthuizen settled for a bogey. Watson and Oosthuizen were each -10 after regulation. Watson rallied on the back nine with 4 straight birdies on 13, 14, 15 and 16. For Watson it's his first major tournament win.

The Timberwolves lost 99-90 to the New Orleans Hornets Saturday night. Kevin Love had 29 points and 12 rebounds and Michael Beasley returned to score 20 points off the bench. Minnesota has lost 5 straight games and is now 25-32. New Orleans has the worst record in the Western Conference with just 15 wins.

The Minnesota Wild gave up 2 first period goals and lost 4-1 at home to Phoenix Saturday night to close the 2011-2012 season. Dany Heatley scored the lone Minnesota goal and Niklas Backstrom had 24 saves. Heatley's goal is his 24th.

The Twins had trouble hitting, fielding and pitching Saturday night in their 8-2 loss at Baltimore. The Orioles scored 1 run in the 2nd inning, 2 in the 3rd and 3 in the 4th and never trailed. Tommy Hunter threw 7 innings with 6 hits and 2 unearned runs allowed. Minnesota scored both of their runs in the 8th inning. Justin Morneau went 2-4 and both Jamey Carroll and Joe Mauer had RBI groundouts. Francisco Liriano threw just 4 innings with 8 hits and 5 earned runs allowed to take the loss.

The Twins lost 4-2 in Baltimore to the Orioles in the regular season opener Friday afternoon. Jake Arrieta threw 7 shutout innings with 2 hits allowed to get the win. Josh Willingham hit a 2-run homerun in the 9th inning accounting for the only Twins runs. Carl Pavano allowed 4 earned runs in 7 innings to take the loss.

The Twins begin the 2012 regular season today in Baltimore against the Orioles. First pitch at 2:05, pregame on WJON at 1:35. Righthander Carl Pavano will start on the mound for the Twins with righthander Jake Arrieta getting the start for the Orioles. Minnesota Manager Ron Gardenhire also announced his starting lineup.
