The 22nd annual Avon Spunktacular Days are tomorrow (Saturday). Activities include: a volleyball tournament, bike ride, 5K run, and craft fair.

Foley Fun Days kicks-off today (Friday). The big event tonight is their annual Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society.

The Class AA state quarterfinal baseball games scheduled for today in St. Cloud have been postponed until later today due to severe storms and rain. The first game featuring Holy Family and Cannon Falls is now scheduled for 3pm at Putz Field. Roseau and Fairmont at scheduled at Putz Field at 5:30 and Proctor and Minneapolis Washburn is scheduled for 8pm at Faber Field. Cathedral is scheduled to play against Delano at Putz Field at 8pm tonight.

The Twins lost 9-8 at home against Philadelphia Wednesday night. P.J. Walters left the game in the 1st inning with a right shoulder stiffness. He didn't retired a hitter and allowed 4 hits and 4 earned runs to take the loss and drops to 2-2. Walters will have his shoulder looked at today. Denard Span went 3-5 with a run scored and 1 RBI and both Trevor Plouffe and Josh Willingham each had a solo homerun for the Twins. Ben Revere went 2-5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI for Minnesota.

The St. Cloud Rox lost 8-4 at Thunder Bay Wednesday afternoon. The Border Cats sweep the 3-game series and send the Rox to their 4th straight loss. Thunder Bay scored 3 runs in both the 3rd and 6th innings. Phil Imholte was 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and Mark Rhine was 2-5 with 1 RBI for the Rox. Tadd Johansen allowed 6 hits and 4 runs (3 earned) in 4 innings to take the loss.

The Twins have officially signed 2nd overall pick outfielder Byron Buxton to his first professional contract with a $6 Million signing bonus. Buxton passed his physical Tuesday and took batting practice with the Twins. He's expected to start his pro career at rookie camp in Fort Myers, Florida with a likely promotion coming soon to play in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Buxton was the 2nd overall pick in the first round in the baseball draft last Monday.

The Twins outscored the Phillies at Target Field 11-7 Tuesday in the first game of a 3-game series. Minnesota scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning to get off to a good start. Trevor Plouffe went 3-5 with a homerun, 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Plouffe has 10 homeruns this season. Josh Willingham and Denard Span each had solo homeruns, Ben Revere was 3-5 with 2 RBIs and Jamey Carroll went 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs for the Twins. Nick Blackburn threw 5 innings with 8 hits and 4 earned runs allowed to get the win and improves to 3-4.

The St. Cloud Rox lost 4-3 at Thunder Bay Tuesday night. Thunder Bay broke the 3-all tie with a run in the bottom of the 8th inning off St. Cloud reliever Will Flor. Flor allowed 2 hits and 1 earned run in 1 inning to take the loss for the Rox. Billy Soule threw 5 shutout innings with 4 hits allowed but didn't figure in the final decision. Soule pitches in college for the Gophers. Phil Imholte was 2-2 and Mark Rhine was 2-4 with 2 doubles and 1 run scored for the Rox.

The Cathedral girls golf team is in 5th place after the first day of the Class AA state meet at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan. Kourtney Williams of Becker is in 4th place individually, Marja Sorenson of Rocori is in 10th place after shooting a 81 and Lucy Gaetz of Cathedral is in 29th place after shooting a 86. The 2nd day of the competition is today.
