Stearns county residents with an interest in severe weather can become trained weather spotters. Stearns County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service are offering Skywarn Weather Spotter Training this week.

September is National Preparedness Month and Stearns County's Emergency Management department is asking you to think about whether you're prepared for an emergency.

Last year Minnesota had over 100 tornadoes, more than any other state in 2010. Three of those tornadoes were in Stearns County. From 1959 - 2009, Stearns County was ranked 3rd in the state for the highest number of tornadoes. To coincide with Severe Weather Awareness Week, the Emergency Management Office put together a video about the county's warning system.
