The Sartell-St. Stephen football team are ready to return to glory in 2024 after posting an 0-9 record last season. Sabres head coach Scott Hentges joined me on WJON. The Sabres will open the season at home against Rogers.
The Sartell-St. Stephen football team is coming off a successful season which saw them advance to the section 8-5-A championship game. The Sabres were 5-6 in 2022 but did win 3 of their last 4 games including playoff wins over Bemidji and Sauk Rapids-Rice before falling to Moorhead in the section final.
Tech High School has chosen finalists for the vacant head football coaching job. Tech Principal Charlie Eisenreich indicated that they have chosen finalists for the position and will conduct 2nd interviews with those individuals next Thursday and a decision is expected shortly after that.
This week's All-Star Student is a two year starting quarterback for the Sartell Sabers. His love, and dedication for football has been described as having another coach on the field.
The Sartell-St. Stephen football team will play Moorhead tonight in the Section 8-5A Final at St. John's University in Collegeville at 7pm. The Sabres are seeded #2 and are 7-2 on the season while Moorhead is 9-0 and seeded #1 in the section.
The Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres begin the Scott Hentges era this season. He replaces longtime head coach and current Athletic Director John Ross. Hentges had been the defensive coordinator under Ross. Hentges comes from a coaching family. His Dad, Bruce had been the head coach at St. Cloud Tech in the late 1980s and 1990s and is assisting Scott in Sartell.
High School football practice began in the St. Cloud area Monday. Sartell-St. Stephen has a new head coach, Scott Hentges, Justin Skalerud returns as the Apollo head coach, Gregg Martig is back at Tech, Dean Taylor returns at Cathedral, and Bill Magnuson is back at Sauk Rapids-Rice. Mike Rowe is back as Rocori begins defense of the Class 4A title.
Sartell-St. Stephen has hired Scott Hentges as their new head football coach. The decision was announced today on the Sartell-St. Stephen website. Hentges replaces John Ross who remains at Sartell as the Athletic Director. Hentges has held many different positions within the Sartell-St. Stephen football program. He has coached quarterbacks, running backs, linebackers, defensive backs and most recently defensive coordinator.
