Sauk Rapids-Rice

Sauk Rapids-Rice is one of several school districts across the state considering asking their voters to raise their own taxes. Sauk Rapids-Rice is one of just 36 districts in the state that doesn't currently have an operating levy.

The high schools around the St. Cloud area are all hosting graduation ceremonies in the comings days. St. Cloud Apollo has their commencement at 7:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at the St. Cloud Civic Center. Seniors at St. Cloud Tech will get their diplomas tomorrow (Friday) at 7:30 p.m. also at the Civic Center.

A new survey suggests residents in the Sauk Rapids-Rice school district would be willing to increase their own property taxes. However, a majority of the respondents either work in the district or have students in the district. In general, 65% of the participants supported an increase in property taxes to maintain class sizes, provide additional transportation, and update student technology.

Are the residents of Sauk Rapids and Rice willing to raise their own taxes for school district programs? The school board will go over the results of a survey on the issue, during their meeting tonight (Monday).
