Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild are closer to getting top goaltenders Niklas Backstrom and Jose Theodore back from hip injuries. Both were back on the ice at practice Monday and joined the team for their trip to Edmonton. Backstrom has missed 8 games while Theodore has sat out the last 2 games.

The Minnesota Wild downed Vancouver 4-0 Sunday night to end a 3-game losing streak. Anton Khudobin had 32 saves to earn the shutout in net for the Wild. Matt Cullen had a goal and an assist and Andrew Brunette, Martin Havlat and John Madden each scored a goal for Minnesota.

Nashville beat the Minnesota Wild 5-1 Tuesday night in Nashville. Mikko Koivu scored the lone Wild goal and Jose Theodore had 21 saves for Minnesota. Nashville has won 6 straight.

The Minnesota Wild saw their 4-game win streak get snapped Sunday night after a 4-0 loss at home against the Dallas Stars. Jamie Benn scored twice for the Stars and Andrew Raycroft had 26 saves to earn the shutout in net for Dallas. Jose Theodore had 24 saves for the Wild.

The Minnesota Wild won 3-1 at Boston Thursday night. Cal Clutterbuck scored the game-winner to break a 1-all tie in the 3rd period. Martin Havlat scored a first period goal and Mikko Koivu scored an empty-netter.

The Minnesota Wild won 2-1 at New Jersey Tuesday night. Cal Clutterbuck and Clayton Stoner each scored a goal. Stoner's goal was the game-winner in the 3rd period and is his first career goal. Jose Theodore had 21 saves for Minnesota.

The Minnesota Wild defeated Phoenix 6-5 in overtime Sunday. Cam Barker scored the game-winning goal for Minnesota. Mikko Koivu had 4 assists for the Wild, Andrew Brunette added 2 goals, and Brent Burns chipped in a goal and 2 assists for Minnesota.

The Minnesota Wild defeated San Jose 5-3 at home Wednesday night. Kyle Brodziak scored 2 goals and Brent Burns added a goal and an assist for the Wild. Niklas Backstrom had 29 saves in net for Minnesota.

The Minnesota Wild lost for the 2nd straight time 4-3 in an overtime shootout against Columbus Monday night. Columbus scored 2 goals in the 3rd period to force overtime where they won the shootout 3-1. Chuck Kobasew had a goal and an assist and Marek Zidlicky added 2 assists for the Wild. Mikko Koivu and Cal Clutterbuck each scored a goal for Minnesota.

The Minnesota Wild saw their win streak end Sunday night when they lost to the Detroit Red Wings 4-1. Detroit scored 2 goals in the first period and 2 more in the 2nd. Brent Burns scored the lone Wild goal in the 3rd period. Niklas Backstrom had 23 saves.
