Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings continue to consider the former Army Ammunition Plant site in Arden Hills as a possible site for a new stadium. Vikings Vice President Lester Bagley tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press the site is "very viable." The Vikings are also considering other options.

The Minnesota Vikings signed free agent CFL receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux to a 3-year contract Monday. The 6'2 215 pound receiver caught 130 passes for 1,972 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2 seasons for the B.C. Lions. He was undrafted out of Alcorn State in 2009. The Vikings beat out 5 other teams for Arceneaux's services.

The Vikings hired James Saxon as their running back coach Monday. Saxon has been an assistant coach in the NFL for the past 11 seasons including the last 3 with the Miami Dolphins as their running backs coach. Viking veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield is going back to the Pro Bowl.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier added 2 more assistant coaches to the staff. The two new coaches are Craig Johnson to coach quarterbacks and Jeff Davidson to coach the offensive line.

The Vikings announced the hiring of many assistant coaches Wednesday including Bill Musgrave as the new offensive coordinator. Musgrave had been the quarterbacks coach for the Atlanta Falcons.

Former San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Singletary is joining the Vikings coaching staff as Linebackers Coach/Assistant Head Coach. Singletary was fired with 1 game left this season as head coach of the 49ers. Singletary and Viking head coach Leslie Frazier were teammates with the Chicago Bears in the 1980s.

Minnesota Vikings Vice President of Stadium Development Lester Bagley says the Vikings would be willing to pay for 1/3 the cost of an outdoor stadium with the remaining 2/3 being paid for publicly.

The Vikings lost 20-13 at Detroit against the Lions Sunday to close the season. Minnesota trailed 10-0 at halftime and managed just 1 touchdown in the game and that came on defense. Jared Allen took a 36-yards interception back for a touchdown. Ryan Longwell added 2 field goals for the Vikings.

Viking quarterback Brett Favre has been ordered to pay the NFL $50,000 for "failure to cooperate" with the NFL in their investigation for a possible violation of the league's personal conduct policy. The NFL's ruling into allegations that Favre sent inappropriate messages and lewd photos to former New York Jets game hostess, Jenn Sterger concluded Wednesday.

The Minnesota Vikings stayed 2 days longer than expected but it turned out it was worth their wait as Minnesota upset Philadelphia 24-14 Tuesday night in Philly. The Vikings and Eagles were tied at 7 apiece at halftime after Antoine Winfield forced a Michael Vick fumble and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown.
