The Vikings home opener against Tampa Bay Sunday will not be blacked out on local television. The Vikings announced that they have less than 1,000 tickets available for Sunday's game. The last time the Vikings had a game blacked out was the final regular season game in 1997.

The San Diego Chargers came from down 17-7 at halftime to beat the Vikings 24-17 Sunday afternoon in San Diego. Percy Harvin began the game with a 103-yard kickoff return touchdown for the Vikings and Donavan McNabb completed a touchdown pass to Michael Jenkins in the first half. McNabb struggled for much of the day and was 7-15 passing for just 39 yards.

The Vikings and running back Adrian Peterson have agreed to terms on a 7-year contract extension worth $100 Million with $36 Million guaranteed. Peterson will get $40 over the first 3 years of the contract. Peterson is being paid as the hi ghest paid running back in the league.

Viking head coach Leslie Frazier has given defensive back and former Gopher Marcus Sherels the first chance to return punts this season. He won the job over Jaymar Johnson and Greg Camarillo. Camarillo may also get opportunities to return punts.

The Vikings claimed linebacker Xavier Adibi off waivers from the Houston Texans Monday and released tight end Allen Reisner. Adibi is a 6'2 242 pound linebacker from Stillwater, Oklahoma and Viginia Tech. He was a 4th round pick by the Houston Texans in 2008.

The Vikings have signed linebacker Chad Greenway to a 5-year contract extension worth $41 Million with $20 Million guaranteed. Greenway has led the Vikings in tackles each of the last 3 seasons. He was scheduled to make $10.1 Million this season after the Vikings used the franchise tag on him.

The Vikings trimmed their roster down to the mantatory 53-man roster limit Saturday afternoon. Minnesota cut the following players: veteran offensive lineman Ryan Koch, tight end Jeff Dugan, linebacker Heath Farwell, defensive end Stylez G. White, defensive end David Akinniyi, running back Tristan Davis, Guard Byron Isom, cornerback Devon Torrence, safety Ryan Hill, receiver Jaymar Johnson, receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux,

The Vikings closed the preseason Thursday night with a 28-0 win over the Houston Texans at Mall of America Field. Rookie Christian Ponder got the start at quarterback and was 10-16 passing for 83 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 61 yards on 8 attempts. Joe Webb played the 2nd half and was 5-6 passing for 43 yards with 12 yards rushing. Caleb King ran for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns for Minnesota.

An SUV owned by a former Minnesota Vikings player has been linked to a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian. Police say they haven't determined who was driving.

The Vikings trimmed their roster down to 80 today. Amongst the cuts are quarterback Rhett Bomar, tight end Ed Barham, offensive lineman Conan Amituanai, defensive back Semeon Castille, linebacker Jonathan Gilmore, receiver Andre Holmes, linebacker Kyle O'Donnell, kicker Nate Whitaker, and defensive tackle Colby Whitlock.
