Governor Mark Dayton announced Tuesday after meeting with legislative leaders that they would not support local or state tax increases to pay for a Vikings Stadium. The Vikings had an agreement with Ramsey County to build the Stadium in suburban Arden Hills, Minnesota. The deal called for a $350 Million contribution from Ramsey County with a 1/2 cent sales tax increase to pay for it.

Gov. Mark Dayton plans to call legislative leaders Tuesday and ask that they return to negotiations on a state budget compromise as soon as possible. Many lawmakers spent the holiday weekend in their districts listening to constituents who are frustrated with the budget stalemate that has closed many state functions.
