Officers from several area police departments, sheriff's departments and Minnesota State Patrol conducted a special DWI saturation patrol Saturday night on Highway 15.
The Minnesota State Patrol is promising increased DWI enforcement during the upcoming New Year's Eve celebrations. Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske says that because New Year's Eve falls on a weekend this year, there's the potential for more drunken driving than usual.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says 675 motorists have been arrested for drunken driving in the first half of December. The arrests are part of a month-long enforcement campaign that's going on statewide.
