Brainerd police say a burglary suspect may have been sleeping on the job. Officers got a call around 11 a.m. Wednesday about a burglary. The person who reported the crime told police a man was asleep or passed out in the home.
A Minnesota man, released from death row in Ohio, is back behind bars. Kenneth Richey is accused of threatened staff at the Crow Wing County detox center. Police say an intoxicated Richey was taken to the detox center in Brainerd Saturday night. Officers were called back to the center after staff members reported the threats. The 46-year-old Richey is being held in the Crow Wing County Jail.
A 52-year-old man who once was named Brainerd's Citizen of the Year has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges. Steven "Gus" Augustinack pleaded guilty Monday to 18 counts of felony possession of pornographic computer videos involving a minor.
