The issue over what to do about Foley's policing needs is on a couple of agendas tomorrow (Tuesday). Interim City Administrator Sarah Brunn says the city council will be discussing what options are still available to them. The Board of Commissioners meet tomorrow morning, and are expected to consider a request from the city for a face-to-face meeting sometime later this month.
Three Benton County deputies will lose their jobs. The Board of Commissioners voted today (Tuesday) to eliminate their positions in an effort to trim $260,000 from the Sheriff's Department budget.
Benton County residents can dispose of some hard-to-get-of items tomorrow (Saturday) for little or no charge. Residents can dispose of one appliance free of charge, a set of four tires, one piece of furniture, on TV or computer and one cubic yard of demolition waste.
Employees for local governments could have to be laid-off, if the state government shutdown drags on for months. Benton County Administrator Monty Headley says employees who rely on state services to do their jobs might not be able to do their work.
