St. Cloud City Council: No Environmental Assessment Necessary For Planned Quarry Expansion

ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud City Council voted tonight (Monday) not to order an Environmental Assessment Worksheet at a south St. Cloud granite quarry.

An EAW is not required, but residents in that neighborhood put together a petition requesting one.

ColdSpring - formerly known as Cold Spring Granite - has requested a Conditional Use Permit to expand its quarry by 3.4 acres.

Back in October the company withdrew plans for a much larger expansion.  An Environmental Assessment Worksheet was completed at that time for that project.

The new permit would expand the quarry operation from 11 acres to 14.4.

The project now goes to the Zoning Board Of Appeals, which will get the final say on whether to grant the CUP.
