DULUTH - A book called "Lake Superior Flavors" features the great restaurants along the Great Lake.

Author James Norton says it's meant to be a field guide to extra special places...

Norton says places like "Northern Water Smokehaus" and "Fitgers Brewhouse" both in Duluth are featured in the book.  One stop he made was to "The World's Best Donuts" in Grand Marais for their cinnamon cake donuts...

Another one of the places in the book is on the U-P Peninsula where a group of monks have set-up shop.

Norton says he and his wife started working on the book by spending some time up in the Lake Superior area asking the locals about where to go, and where to eat.

Norton says the Midwest as a whole is hitting something of a renaissance with people discovering the value of local foods. He says there's a whole new crop of talented up-starts around the lake.
