MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Twins have started the season on the road, playing against the White Sox in Chicago.  They also travel to Cleveland to take on the Indians this weekend, before coming home on Monday for their Home Opener.

Twins spokesman Chris Iles was on the News @ Noon show on WJON today (Thursday) talking about their big plans for the home opener at Target Field.

Illes says they'll start the day with a Breakfast on the Plaza from 6:00  until 9:00 a.m. offering a free ballpark breakfast.  The gates will open at 1:00 p.m. Local a cappella group "Home Free" from NBC's The Voice will perform at 2:30 p.m. Academy Award nominee Barkhad Abdi will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Illes says they'll also hold a "Stand Up To Cancer" event throughout the game to support Twins General Manager Terry Ryan, who is battling cancer.

The Twins are playing the Oakland Athletics on Monday with a start time of 3:10 p.m.
