As the realization that summer is over half-way gone, if you’ve been in a store recently you’ve noticed that school supplies are already readily available so parents can begin to make purchases for the upcoming school year.

According to an article from PR Newswire about how much it will cost parents to get their kids ready to begin a new year, the cost is going up.

The research conducted by Deloitte says parents will pay around $586 per child. The back to school “industry” if you will, is a 31-billion-dollar beast.

Combine those numbers with increased gas and grocery bills among everything else that has gone up recently, most people are looking for any tip on bargains, sales, discounts or other ways to save money.

If you are one of those people, let me recommend a newsletter I found recently that is all about saving Minnesotans money. It’s called Thrifty Minnesota, and there are a lot of different leads on where you can find economical things for your family to do, places to eat, or if someone is offering a deal worthy of recognition.

This is a good way to keep up with any businesses that may be offering a giveaway on a particular day as well.

Thrifty Minnesota was started by Chrysa and her friends Laura and Kristi to report on fun things happening around our state, especially if you could save money doing those things.

These three ladies along with contributing writers Hannah and Kim, are all mothers who understand juggling, keeping their family entertained and engaged while keeping within the budget guidelines.

It’s easy to have them drop their knowledge right in your inbox. Register on their site to get their emails.
