Minnesota High School Clay Target Championships To Be Held In June

Over 9,000 high school athletes are set to compete at the 2024 Minnesota State Clay Target Championships throughout the month of June in Alexandria, Prior Lake and Marshall, Minnesota.

The league's clay target sports program has more participants than boys and girls high school hockey combined in the state of Minnesota.

The Trap Shooting Championships will be held in Alexandria from June 10th through the 18th. This event will host over 8,500 participants from 338 different high school teams, making it the largest clay target shooting competition in the entire world.

The Skeet Shooting Championships are slated for June 25th, 26th and 27th in Prior Lake. These events will feature 327 athletes from 43 teams, making it the largest skeet shooting competition in the state of Minnesota.

The 5-Stand and Sporting Clays Championships are set for June 8th and 9th at Shooter's Sporting Clays in Marshall, Minnesota.

In total, 11,898 student-athletes participated in the Minnesota High School Clay Target League this spring leading up to this month's tournaments. Minnesota is one of 35 states that is a member of the USA Clay Target League.

The USA Clay Target League currently boasts 51,000 athletes nationwide and is the only 100% school-approved clay target shooting sport program in the country.

The league also says that there has not been a single reported injury since the inception of the league in 2001, noting that each athlete must complete firearm safety certification before participation.
